Dominica is a stunning Caribbean island that is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. When most people think of the Caribbean, they picture white sand beaches and crystal clear water. Whether you're a nature lover or simply looking for views to last a lifetime, these are the best waterfalls in Dominica that are sure to impress you.
Located in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, this is a 40-ft waterfall surrounded by lush vegetation. It's one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island, and for a good reason. The Emerald Pool is truly a sight to behold - courtesy of emerald-green water that looks like something out of the movies. While there are many ways to experience the Emerald Pool, we recommend taking a dip in its refreshing waters. You can also take a hike through the surrounding rainforest to get up close and personal with this natural wonder.
The two-tiered waterfall is one of the most unique on the island. Named after the naval battle that took place in 1805, Trafalgar Falls is located in a lush rainforest and features two different swimming holes - Father and Mother - named for each tier of the falls respectively. The 'Father' is about 200-ft tall while the 'Mother' is just over 100-ft. The water here is incredibly refreshing, and you can even find natural Jacuzzis formed by rocks at the base of each waterfall. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even cliff jump into the pool below.
This is one of the most secluded waterfalls on the island and definitely worth the hike to get there. Sari Sari Falls is located in the middle of dense rainforest and there is a 90-minute hike through the river to get to the basin. So, you can expect to get wet even before you reach the waterfall. The best time to visit Sari Sari Falls is during the rainy season when the river is full, and the falls are at their strongest.
If you're looking for a more relaxed waterfall experience, Hibiscus Falls is the perfect spot for you. This gorgeous waterfall is located near the village of Laudat and is only a short hike from the main road. The pool at the base of Hibiscus Falls is shallow and surrounded by rocks, making it the perfect place to relax and take in the stunning views. Keep your eyes peeled for some of Dominica's native wildlife, as this area is known to be home to many different species of birds and reptiles.
Situated in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, Middleham Falls is one the tallest and most amazing waterfalls in Dominica at over 200-ft. To reach there, you have to complete an exhilarating 600-ft hike and cross a river. Middleham Falls is truly a hidden gem and one of the best-kept secrets on the island. The pool at the base of the waterfall is deep and perfect for swimming.
