Disney Cruise Line offers a magical voyage experience like no other, featuring a fleet of stunning ships that transport guests to enchanting destinations around the world. Each ship is a marvel in its own right, boasting a blend of luxurious accommodations, immersive entertainment, and delightful dining options. In recent years, waterslides have become a key highlight on cruise ships, providing thrilling fun for guests of all ages. Disney has embraced this trend with enthusiasm, introducing AquaDuck, a unique waterslide that brings a splash of adventure to its cruises. This Disney cruise AquaDuck is sure to delight families seeking excitement on the high seas. Read on to discover which Disney cruise ships feature AquaDuck and what makes this attraction so special.

What is AquaDuck? Which Cruise Has It?

The AquaDuck is the star attraction on two of the Disney Cruise Line ships: Dream and Fantasy. Although both ships offer the same exhilarating AquaDuck experience, it's more than just a waterslide; it's technically a water coaster. Guests embark on an adventure by climbing two staircases to board a two-person raft, which is then propelled by water through a continuous, transparent acrylic tube that winds around the ship. This unique design provides breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean and the pool deck below, making it feel like a mini-roller coaster at sea. One of the most thrilling aspects of the ride is a section that extends out from the ship’s side, soaring 150 feet above the ocean. Plus, you'll zoom through the ship's funnel, with kids in Edge, a tweens-only club, having a special viewing porthole to catch the action as you glide by.

How Does Disney’s AquaDuck Work?

The AquaDuck is a thrilling 765-foot-long water roller coaster slide that offers guests an exciting ride. Riders can choose to ride solo or share a double inflatable raft propelled along a flowing stream of water through a mostly transparent tube. The adventure begins on deck 16, where the slide takes a quick plunge over the side of the ship before winding down the port side, looping around the forward funnel, and then back down the starboard side, eventually finishing on deck 12.

To access AquaDuck, guests enter from midship on deck 12. From the Mickey Pool area on deck 11, a staircase leads up to the entrance of AquaDuck. Once at the entrance, riders ascend to the loading area on deck 16. Each inflatable raft has two seating compartments, with the larger rider sitting in the back and the smaller rider in front when two people are aboard. Solo riders occupy the back seat, and handles are provided on both sides of the raft for added security.

Rafts are delivered to the loading area via a conveyor belt, where a cast member retrieves the next raft and offers brief instructions before guests settle in. Once the cast member receives the “OK” signal on the control panel, he/she activates the system, allowing the raft to glide into the water tube.

As soon as the ride begins, the raft plunges into a loop that hangs 12 feet over the ship’s edge, approximately 150 feet above the ocean. Water jets propel the raft upward through the initial dip, creating a thrilling splashdown. Riders will experience additional bursts of water as they glide down the clear tube along the port side straightaway, entering an enclosed section that wraps around the forward funnel.

The raft slows as it navigates the clear tube along the starboard side before entering another enclosed area to circle the aft funnel and descend to the unloading zone. A cast member will assist riders in exiting the raft before guiding it back to the loading area.

Disney’s AquaDuck: Height and Age Restrictions

To experience AquaDuck, guests must meet certain height requirements: individuals need to be at least 42 inches tall, while single riders must be a minimum of 54 inches tall. Additionally, children must be at least 7 years old to ride alone. Those under 7 years must ride with an accompanying adult aged 14 or older, provided they meet the 42-inch height requirement.

Disney’s AquaDuck: Rules and Guidelines to Remember

Here are some safety tips and rules to ensure a pleasant experience.

  • Snorkel gear and swim masks covering the eyes and nose are not allowed on the AquaDuck or any other slide.
  • Personal rafts, floats, and fun noodles are prohibited on the ship and in the pools.
  • AquaDuck allows Coast Guard-approved personal flotation devices (PFDs), water wings, and swimsuits with built-in flotation.
  • Complimentary pool vests for children are available on deck for pool use only but are not permitted on AquaDuck.
  • Loose items, including phones, sunglasses, and cameras, are not allowed while riding AquaDuck.
  • Avoid wearing swimwear with metal parts or buckles to prevent damage to the slide.

Conclusion

If you're seeking an unforgettable adventure at sea, AquaDuck is a must-try experience available exclusively on Disney Cruise Line’s Dream and Fantasy ships. This thrilling water coaster offers not just fun but breathtaking views and a unique ride that makes it stand out among cruise ship attractions. With its exciting twists, turns, and panoramic ocean views, AquaDuck is the perfect blend of excitement and Disney magic. Be sure to follow the safety guidelines and height requirements to make the most of this one-of-a-kind waterslide. Ready to dive in? Start planning your Disney cruise with CruiseBooking.com!
