The Queen Anne float launches on Cunard

By Cruise Booking Team

For Cunard’s new Queen Anne, float-out celebrations have occurred at the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy.

On May 3, 2024, Queen Anne, the 249th ship to sail under the Cunard flag, will set sail on her maiden voyage to Lisbon, her first voyage under the Cunard flag.

Traditionally, a Madrina is named to offer blessings and best wishes for the ship, celebrating water flow into the dry dock.

Carnival UK President, Sture Myrmell, said: “We are pleased to celebrate this important milestone in Queen Anne’s construction. With the float-out ceremony, the ship passes from the building dock to the water, where she belongs. We are proud to recognize today that the master shipbuilders at Fincantieri are devoted to building a ship that strengthens the position of Queen Anne as a world-renowned luxury brand.”
“Queen Anne is Fincantieri’s third ship for Cunard, a pillar in British maritime history, with whom it shares a real commitment to excellence. The building of a liner for this ship owner brings us back to our roots yet, at the same time, spurs us forward into the future in the spirit of bringing together tradition and innovation to further strengthen our longstanding relationship.”
