In the Alaska season of 2023, Holland America Line will feature new culinary and cultural experiences through its “Alaska Up Close” program.
We’ve introduced incredible programming through Alaska Up Close that gives our guests a truly authentic Alaskan experience unlike any other cruise line,” said Michael Smith, vice president, guest experience and product development. With the new localized cuisine and cocktails, exciting lectures, and wildlife viewing, we are expanding the program to incorporate Alaskan fresh fish and wildlife spotting even more extensively this season. The experiences we provide our guests are unlike anything else in the world.
The cruise line has announced that travelers will be able to sample localized cuisine, cocktails made with glacier ice, an Alaska-themed brunch, a Huna native presentation, and wildlife experts onboard to help guests spot the indigenous animals.
The program will also provide workshops, lectures, EXC Talks and dining events featuring local culinary traditions.
These new cocktails are made with Alaska glacier ice harvested by state permit among floating glacier bergs and include:
1. Using Juneauper Gin, an Alaskan gin produced in Juneau, you can make a “Juneau Gin and Tonic.”
2. There is Blue Curaçao, X Rum, pineapple juice and De Kuyper Blue Curaçao in Alaska’s Blue Ice.
3. Among the ingredients of Blue Iceberg are Juneauper Gin, apricot brandy, Blue Curaçao, and lime juice.
4. Served over glacier ice with Jack Daniels Black Label or Jonnie Walker Black.
The new Alaska Brunch menu is created using ingredients from Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. The menu includes Alaskan Blueberry Pancakes, Salmon and Potato Chowder, Wild Forest Mushrooms, and Tarragon Crepes.
Additionally, every Alaska cruise will feature special dishes and theme nights at the Lido Market. All cruises offer salmon bake and seafood boil pop-up dinners.
The expanded program of Holland America Line includes sustainable food as well.
