Carnival Cruise Line announced its third BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster onboard the Carnival Jubilee in honor of National Roller Coaster Day.
At Meyer Werft in Germany, where the ship is under construction, the roller coaster’s 800-foot track is currently being installed on Deck 19. It is expected that the installation will be completed next month, and tests will begin in October. A two-person, all-electric car will be able to travel the entire track once it is completed. While twisting and turning 187 feet above the water line, riders control the speed of the car (up to 40 mph).
Carnival’s three Excel Class ships already feature BOLT, a ride manufactured by Maurer Rides in Munich, Germany. As part of the Mardi Gras celebration in 2021, the first roller coaster at sea was unveiled. Carnival Jubilee’s sister ships, the Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, have served up the only roller coasters at sea to over 150,000 guests.
Carnival Jubilee will operate from Galveston, Texas year-round beginning December 23, 2023. Itineraries on Carnival’s new ship will include trips to Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel, Mexico.
