Silversea Cruises has recently announced further alterations to the schedule of the Silver Moon, following the cancellation of one sailing and significant changes to another itinerary due to the geopolitical situation in the Red Sea.
Initially, the luxury vessel Silver Moon was set to embark on a ten-night cruise from Aqaba, Jordan, to Oman. Earlier this month, Silversea had altered the cruise’s final destination, planning for the ship to return to Aqaba instead of continuing to the Middle East. This modification was intended to keep the vessel on the northern side of the Red Sea.
However, in a more recent update, Silversea has decided to cancel the ship’s return to Jordan as well. “Due to the recent military action that has resulted in escalated tensions in the region, we do not feel it is safe at this time to continue to Aqaba,” said the company in the letter sent to the onboard guests. Consequently, the Silver Moon was redirected to Europe, passing through the Suez Canal to reach Piraeus on January 16.
In response to these changes, Silversea has provided guests with air transportation back to their homes, along with airport transfers and overnight hotel accommodations wherever needed. The company emphasized that the safety and security of its guests and crew are of utmost importance.
Currently without passengers, the Silver Moon is en route to Asia, traveling via South Africa and the Cape of Good Hope. With the cancellation of its January 26 sailing, the vessel is expected to resume its regular cruise schedule on February 11. The Silver Moon is scheduled to start an 18-night journey from Mumbai to Singapore, including stops in Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia.
Silver Moon’s itinerary in Asia and the Indian Ocean, lasting until late May, features several additional cruises visiting various destinations in the Far East and Southeast Asia.
