Royal Caribbean Adds Cabo Rojo, Dominican Republic for 2024

By Cruise Booking Team

Royal Caribbean International announced that it will start including Cabo Rojo, Dominican Republic, as a new destination on its itineraries beginning in October 2024.

According to several statements sent to booked guests, different ships from the company will begin visiting this new Caribbean port. In one of the notices, the company stated that it had added a brand-new port to its itinerary to provide guests with the best experience. Royal Caribbean also expressed excitement about allowing guests and their travel parties to be among the first to experience Cabo Rojo.

The Adventure of the Seas will be the first Royal Caribbean ship to call at Cabo Rojo, with its inaugural visit scheduled for October 16, 2024. Departing from Port Canaveral, the 3,340-passenger ship will visit the port as part of an eight-night cruise to the Southern Caribbean and the Bahamas. In addition to Cabo Rojo, the itinerary includes stops in Aruba, Curaçao, and Perfect Day at CocoCay.

To accommodate the new port, Royal Caribbean adjusted the timing of its visit to Curaçao, which will now be from 7 AM to 4 PM. The company described Cabo Rojo as featuring “beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, and preserved coral reefs.”

Starting in May 2025, the Adventure of the Seas will be joined by the Oasis of the Seas for regular visits to Cabo Rojo. Cabo Rojo welcomed its first cruise ship, the Norwegian Pearl, on January 7, 2024. Developed by the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), the new cruise port has a 200-meter dock and a mooring knot, allowing it to accommodate multiple ships simultaneously. In 2025, the port is also set to receive ships from Holland America Line, Costa Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises.
