Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day Mexico to Use Costa Maya Pier

By Cruise Booking Team

Infrastructure of Costa Maya Cruise Port.

Last week, it was announced that Perfect Day Mexico will open in Mahahual, Quintana Roo, in September 2027. This project represents a $600 million investment and will feature a water park, a private beach club, an infinity pool, as well as various bars, restaurants, and shops.

Initially, the company considered building a new pier for this destination but ultimately chose to utilize the existing infrastructure at the Costa Maya cruise port. According to Diario Cambio 22, Royal Caribbean is currently in negotiations with the port’s owners, as stated by Quintana Roo’s Tourism Secretary, Bernardo Cueto Riestra.

The cruise port, which has been operated by a consortium of cruise lines since 2021, was originally run by a local businessman. This consortium holds a government concession that permits operation of the port and its facilities until 2059.

Perfect Day Mexico is expected to accommodate up to 21,000 cruise passengers daily. The development will also enhance access to other regional destinations, including a station for Tren Maya, a railway traversing the Yucatán Peninsula.

The project is anticipated to create over 2,000 jobs. The announcement took place during an event in Chetumal, attended by Royal Caribbean executives and government officials, including Quintana Roo’s Governor, Mara Lezama. “The new initiative for the Mahahual cruise port will not only transform this stunning Caribbean destination but also emphasizes our commitment to sustainability and community well-being,” she remarked at the event.
