MSC World America Sets Sail for Miami Debuting as MSC Cruises’ Latest Ship

By Cruise Booking Team

Early Monday morning just after dawn, the MSC World America arrived at Port Miami, its new home at the cruise line’s newly constructed Terminal AA. The new terminal, which opened for business in February, has instantly laid claim to being the largest cruise terminal in the world.

Even if there was not much of a crowd at South Point Park — the usual gathering spot for such events — this ship makes noise. Wednesday will be the day for its official naming in a ceremony where actress Drew Barrymore will serve as the godmother.

The MSC World America is the second ship in “World-class” for MSC and the very first ship intended for this market. The first born within the class, MSC World Europa, came online in 2022. Another two ships from this class—MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic—will be launched in 2026 and 2027, respectively.

This newest ship will operate itineraries around the Caribbean and therefore will be the largest MSC ship in America. The newest addition offers up to 22 decks, with more than 2,600 cabins and more than 420,000 sq-ft of public space. More than 150 feet wide, built to impress.

For the customers who have cruised MSC previously, it now offers a whole new layout of the ship-in “districts” or “zones,” including a family area, long, open promenade, and the luxury Yacht Club, which has always been the largest in the MSC fleet and favorite among loyal guests.

Each year MSC Cruises has put another vessel into U.S. ports. By the end of 2025, the cruise company will have seven ships operating from four American cities: Miami, Port Canaveral, New York, and the newcomer, Galveston.

MSC World America is not just another addition to the fleet but a huge bet by MSC to dominate the U.S. cruise marketplace.
