The new MSC World America has started its first cruise from PortMiami. The ship arrived earlier this month and welcomed its first paying guests on April 12, 2025. It sails from MSC’s brand-new cruise terminal and runs on LNG, a cleaner fuel for the environment.
For its first trip, the ship is offering a seven-night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. Guests will visit Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas. One of the top highlights is a stop at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the company’s private island with white-sand beaches and clear blue water.
Now that the ship has started regular cruises, it will sail from Miami all year round. It will visit both the Western and Eastern Caribbean. Some of the places it will go include San Juan, Puerto Plata, Roatán, Cozumel, and Costa Maya. Every cruise also includes a day at Ocean Cay.
Before the first cruise, MSC held a special naming ceremony for the ship. This event happened during a three-night sailing trip that left Miami on April 9, 2025. Actress Drew Barrymore was named the ship’s godmother. Guests on this short cruise enjoyed an overnight stay at Ocean Cay as part of the celebration.
The ship was built in France and delivered to MSC Cruises at the end of March. It is the second ship in MSC’s World-class series, following MSC World Europa in 2022. It’s one of the largest ships in the fleet and was designed with American guests in mind.
There are many new places to enjoy on board. One of the main attractions is The Harbour, an outdoor space for families. It has a water park, playground, ropes course, and a Cliffhanger swing ride that goes over the edge of the ship. There are also quiet spots to relax and free grab-and-go dining options.
Adults have their own spaces too. The ship features a new comedy club, a modern sports bar, and the only Eataly restaurant at sea, serving Italian food in a casual setting.
MSC Cruises plans to add more ships to this series soon. MSC World Asia will launch in 2026, and MSC World Atlantic will follow in 2027.
