A press release from Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro and Singapore’s Minister of Transport and Trade Relations, S. Iswaran, announced today that Disney Cruise Line will offer cruises to Southeast Asia for the first time.
The Singapore Tourism Board and Disney Cruise Line recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to homeport a brand-new Disney cruise ship exclusively from Singapore starting in 2025. With the recent acquisition of Global Dream, Disney will have a presence in Singapore.
There will be more information about the maiden voyage, itinerary, and onboard experiences released at a later time, the company said.
We are celebrating our 100th anniversary in 2023 at Walt Disney Company, D’Amaro said. As part of this, Disney Cruise Line is expanding its fleet with new ships and destinations worldwide. The Seventh-launched ship will call Singapore home from 2025 onwards, sailing year-round.
Singapore Tourism Board (STB) Chief Executive Keith Tan said, “We are excited to welcome Disney Cruise Line to Singapore in 2025.”
“We are thrilled that Disney Cruise Line has chosen Singapore as its home port and it shows the strong confidence they have in Southeast Asia.” As a result of the new Disney ship, Singapore’s tourism industry will be boosted for many years to come.”
According to Disney Cruise Line, the 208,000-gross-ton ship can accommodate 6,000 passengers and approximately 2,300 crew members.
Among the lowest emission fuels, green methanol is expected to fuel the ship, which will be among the first in the cruise industry to do so.
The Walt Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish were built at the MV Werften vessel yard in Wismar, Germany, and two more Wish-class ships are currently under construction at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany.
