Carnival Changes Cruise Plans Because of New Hurricane in the Caribbean

By Cruise Booking Team

A new hurricane in the Western Caribbean is causing Carnival Cruise Line to change the plans for some of its ships.

The company said at least four ships could be affected by Hurricane Rafael, which became a Category 3 storm on Wednesday.

“Our team in Miami is closely watching Rafael,” Carnival said. “The safety of our guests and crew is our top priority, and we’ll make sure our ships stay far from the storm.”

The Carnival Miracle, currently on a 12-day trip from Galveston, had to cancel its visit to Grand Cayman on Wednesday.

The Carnival Horizon, on a 6-night cruise from Miami, also had to cancel its visit to Grand Cayman.

Carnival said that the storm will also affect homeport operations, with two ships under close watch.

The Carnival Valor, which is based in New Orleans, is on its way to Louisiana and will arrive earlier than planned on Thursday morning.

The ship’s next cruise will also leave earlier than usual to avoid the storm. Passengers need to check in by 2:00 PM, and the ship will now depart at 2:30 PM.

The Carnival Paradise, currently on its way to Tampa, will still leave on Thursday as planned. Carnival doesn’t expect major changes for this ship, but passengers are asked to sign up for text alerts by texting CCL1 to CRUISE (278473).

Other ships leaving from Gulf Coast ports over the next few days should not be affected by Hurricane Rafael.
