On Monday’s call for its first quarter and business update, Carnival Corporation stood firm on its new building strategy.
Josh Weinstein, the company’s president and CEO, said no new ships would be delivered in 2026 after four new ships and the Seabourn Pursuit are delivered through 2025.
In 2026, there will be no order book,” Weinstein said.
Seabourn Pursuit and Carnival Jubilee are among the upcoming new builds, as well as two more Princess Cruises vessels and Cunard’s Queen Anne.
It is possible for the company to order one or two ships per year beyond 2026, Weinstein advised.
There will be one or two, but whether it will begin in 2027 or after 2027 is still subject to debate.
The company is better positioned with lower capacity growth, according to Weinstein.
Our ship orders now add up to four plus one small expedition ship for 2025, so we know we will not get anything in 2026 or 2027. Let’s see how it goes. It is going to set us up incredibly well to be able to generate free cash flow and pay down our debt,” Weinstein said.
