A new learning center has been renovated at St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital in Jamaica as part of Carnival Cruise Line‘s renovations.
As part of Carnival Horizon’s Labour Day Volunteer Project, about 20 Carnival Horizon crew members cleaned up, painted, and repaired the Learning Centre. As part of the project, Carnival Horizon donated needed items, cleaned up, painted and repaired the Learning Centre. A group of 20 Carnival Horizon crew members also read to children in the Pediatric Ward.
The Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy said, “We are proud to have brought visitors to Jamaica for over 50 years, and we are committed to the community’s health and well-being.” In making improvements to St. Ann’s Learning Centre, we hope that it will have a lasting impact on all of the children there.”
When children are treated on the pediatric ward, the Learning Centre offers them the chance to read and participate in educational activities, so that they can continue their education even when they are not in school. American Friends of Jamaica, Carnival’s foundation partner for charitable initiatives in Jamaica, partnered with Carnival on this project. In addition to donating supplies, Chukka Caribbean Adventures also assisted the project.
Our Labour Day Volunteer Project would not have been possible without Carnival’s participation,” said Dennis Morgan, CEO of St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital. A newly renovated Learning Centre will allow us to continue providing critical educational and psychological support to our young patients as they recuperate.
According to Wendy Hart, president of American Friends of Jamaica, businesses that work together to help communities benefit everyone. Carnival and Chukka have contributed to this Labour Day Volunteer Project, investing their time and resources in improving the lives of Jamaicans.
