An official statement says Carnival Dream crews rescued 17 people stranded in the Belize Channel after their boat capsized.
Carnival Dream officers spotted a capsized boat and a group in distress as the ship headed to Cozumel, Mexico.
Officers and crew members of Carnival Dream Captain Francesco Fiorentino alerted the Belize Coast Guard immediately, lowered a shipboard tender into the water with local Belize tenders, and assisted in the safe recovery of all 17 passengers.
Before a transfer with the Belize Coast Guard was arranged, each member of the rescued group was in good health.
Carnival Dream resumed its cruise to Cozumel, and will return to Galveston, Texas on May 20 after a six-day voyage.
