According to a press release, Royal Caribbean has launched Celebrity River Cruises, a premium river cruise holiday that will begin accepting bookings this year.
The company has committed to an initial order for ten transformational ships, which will sail in 2027.
“We’re excited to announce our foray into the river cruise sector through Celebrity Cruises, our premium travel brand. “Our guests and travel partners can expect us to do what we do best: innovate and elevate the river cruise experience as we meet the growing demand for intimate, culturally enriching travel experiences,” said Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group.
“With about half of our passengers having experienced or planned to vacation on a river cruise, we are confident that they will love Celebrity’s enhanced offering on the river. By using our strong loyalty programs across our three brands, we will increase consumer engagement and our ability to keep customers within our vacation options. We are the finest in the world at providing the vacation of a lifetime, and this is the most recent illustration of how we are developing the ability to provide a lifetime of vacations.”
Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, said, “Celebrity River Cruises will bring the excellence and refinement of our Edge Series Ocean ships to the most iconic rivers, beginning in Europe. We’ve transformed ocean travel with world-class hospitality, award-winning cuisine and beverage experiences, and refined design and elegance. We are excited to bring these experiences to the river and mix them with authentic, destination-rich itineraries to provide our visitors with an experience unlike any other.”
