Costa Cruises will celebrate its 75th anniversary in Genoa, the Italian city where its story began in 1948.
From Oct. 19 to Oct. 27, Costa will celebrate the maiden voyage of the Anna C, the first passenger ship in its fleet.
The Monumental Tour will be offered by Costa Cruises on Friday, October 20. A never-before-seen event in Italy, the event will include a show combining electronic music, cultural heritage, and digital art created by the French DJ and producer Michael Canitrot that will be open to the public.
With electronic music played live by DJs and immersive sets that blend light-show and video-mapping, Costa said in a press release, he was able to rediscover the monuments from a new point of view while making the artistic heritage of cities interact with new technologies.
Genoa, its history and the sea will be the themes of a show that will illuminate the main façade of Palazzo Ducale, overlooking Piazza Matteotti.
Genoa and Liguria will support the initiative, Costa said.
In collaboration with Vanity Fair Italia, the Monumental Tour will be preceded by a cocktail party aboard the Costa Toscana.
Chef Bruno Barbieri will prepare the menu onboard, which will be paired with Ferrari Trento wines with a personalized label.
In celebration of the event, there will be a red carpet onboard, where guests can walk the runway and participate in an exclusive photo shoot.
Malika Ayane will make a special performance onboard Costa Toscana to conclude the evening.
It was also announced that the 75th anniversary celebration program would include a donation initiative for the San’Egidio Community, which, according to Costa, helps vulnerable individuals.
Chef Bruno Barbieri will participate in the lunch being prepared by Costa Cruises’ chefs in the cloister of the Basilica of Santissima Annunziata on Thursday, Oct. 19.
As part of a food assistance project that has so far distributed around one million meals, Costa Crociere Foundation has been supporting the Community of Sant’Egidio since 2015.
Angelo Pintus, an Italian comedian, will perform a show at the Politeama Genovese theater on Monday, Oct. 23.
Gaslini Paediatric Hospital in Genoa will receive the entire proceeds of the event as part of the anniversary festivities.
Despite the evening’s success, Costa Cruises will double the total amount and donate an equal amount.
Gaslini Hospital will also hold a second event in Genoa on Friday, Oct. 27, with a group of young patients and their families taking a cruise aboard the Costa Toscana.
An entertainment day and lunch specially tailored to their needs will be part of the guests’ day of discovery, the company said.
Additionally, Mattia Villardita “SpiderMan”, a man dressed as the superhero, will visit children in Liguria’s hospitals to bring smiles.
Lastly, Costa will sponsor the 40th annual assembly of the National Association of Italian Municipalities, which will be held at the Blue Pavilion of the Genoa Fair from October 24 to 26.
In conjunction with this event, Costa Crociere Foundation will host a workshop on Guardiani della Costa, a project promoting environmental education for Italian students and citizen science.
Since 1988, Costa Cruises has taken millions of guests on cruises around the world, sharing happy and unforgettable moments of their holidays with them,” said Mario Zanetti, Costa Cruises’ president.
With a magnificent show in one of Genoa’s most iconic squares, we hope to share equally unique emotions with the city of Genoa during this special anniversary. In addition to maintaining Costa’s responsibility as a member of the Genoese community, where the company is based, the company wants to bring smiles and tangible assistance to those who need it most,” he explained.
Costa, the company born in Genoa that carries the city’s name high around the world, is celebrating 75 years.
Recent months have seen an exponential growth in the cruise market, and Genoa has become a crucial part of global cruise tourism, with millions of tourists visiting our port every year and discovering our city’s beauty. A series of initiatives have been organized by Costa to celebrate and share this milestone, and we are delighted by that decision.
