Cunard has declared that the Queen Mary 2 will make an additional stop in Liverpool on September 6 and 7 to celebrate its 400th Transatlantic Crossing. During this visit, the ship will host two events for travel agents.
Each event will accommodate 30 guests. The first visit will be on September 6 from 3:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and the second on September 7 from morning 9:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Tom Mahoney, Cunard’s UK Sales Director, expressed excitement about welcoming travel agents aboard in Liverpool, describing the city as Cunard’s “spiritual home.” He emphasized that experiencing the ship first-hand helps agents better understand Cunard’s offerings and boosts their confidence in selling the product. He also noted Cunard’s long 184-year history with Liverpool.
The Queen Mary 2 will arrive in Liverpool on September 6, marking Cunard’s return to the city since the Queen Anne’s naming ceremony in June. After this stop, the ship will depart for Cork, Ireland, on September 7. The Queen Mary 2 began its journey from New York on August 23, marking its 400th Atlantic crossing, with a stop at its homeport, Southampton, on August 30 before continuing a British Isles cruise. This will be the ship’s eighth visit to Liverpool, where large crowds are expected.
The event on September 6 will feature a Champagne afternoon tea in the Champagne Bar, a tour of the ship, and an exclusive early evening show in the Royal Court Theatre. The event on September 7 will include a guided tour, a three-course lunch at the Britannia restaurant, and free time for exploration. Travel agents secured their participation through Cunard’s Shine Rewards loyalty program.
Cunard’s 2024 ship visit program will also include events in Greenock and Southampton, offering opportunities to experience the new Queen Anne and Queen Victoria ships and the Queen Mary 2.
