The Volendam is offering a 42-day Ultimate Mediterranean and Atlantic Passage journey as part of Holland America Line’s Legendary Voyages.
As a result of a trip taken nearly 100 years ago, the new itinerary departs on November 9, 2024.
In 1925, 550 guests were carried across the Atlantic Ocean on the Rotterdam IV, which departed from New York City on February 4, 1925.
A new cruise departing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, goes to 16 ports in nine countries, including Portugal, Morocco, Italy, Greece, Israel, Egypt, Tunisia, Gibraltar (United Kingdom), Spain, and Gibraltar (United Kingdom).
Among the first cruise lines to offer cruise vacations beyond transatlantic crossings, Holland America Line continues to innovate with new itineraries like this ultimate Mediterranean and Atlantic passage sailing, said Beth Bodensteiner, Holland America Line’s chief commercial officer. These new Legendary cruises, which focus on a single region in depth, have proven very popular since they were introduced. With this longer voyage, you can explore the Med in depth without having to travel long distances.”
After crossing the Atlantic Ocean, the 42-day Ultimate Mediterranean and Atlantic Passage will visit Horta and Ponta Delgada in the Azores. A call at Tangier, Morocco, followed by an overnight stay in Livorno and Civitavecchia in Italy will follow. Following Naples, Italy, Catania, Sicily, and Piraeus (Athens), Greece, the ship will set course for home.
