Holland America Line is inviting fans to participate in naming an orphaned moose calf that was rescued in partnership with the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC).
Fans can submit their name suggestions on a specified post on Holland America Line’s official Facebook and Instagram pages by June 23, 2024. From these suggestions, Holland America Line and AWCC will select the top ten names. These top ten names will then be posted on Holland America Line’s Facebook and Instagram pages for fans to vote on their favorite. The winning name will be announced in early July.
Kacy Cole, the chief marketing officer for Holland America Line, highlighted the cruise line’s longstanding connection to Alaska and their commitment to supporting AWCC’s conservation efforts. She added, “Our guests take an Alaska cruise to see wildlife in the region, and moose are part of ‘Alaska’s Big Five.’ We are excited to give our fans the opportunity to participate with the Alaska community in a fun and meaningful way.” This naming opportunity offers fans a chanceAlaska CruisesHolland America Line to connect with the Alaska community.
In addition to the naming contest, Holland America Line and AWCC are partnering to help preserve Alaska’s wildlife. This summer, guests of Holland America Line have the chance to visit the AWCC facility, where they can have close encounters with moose, including feeding them by hand.
Sarah “Howie” Howard, the executive director of AWCC, expressed gratitude for partners like Holland America Line who support their mission to protect and preserve Alaska’s wildlife. “Most orphan animals that come into our facility are given a name to help foster a bond not only with our staff but with our visitors as well. We can’t wait to see what name is chosen by Holland America Line’s fans.”
