Holland America’s Westerdam on Voyage to Alaska

By Cruise Booking Team

Holland America Line’s Westerdam has sailed on a unique 28-night cruise from Seattle to Alaska and the Arctic Circle on Sunday, June 9. This marks the first time the company has offered this special itinerary, which features stops at 12 ports and scenic views of various glaciers.
The cruise is designed to showcase the remote beauty of Alaska, including a celebration of the Summer Solstice in Nome. After setting sail from Seattle, the Westerdam will make its way to Ketchikan and Sitka, followed by a journey to the Hubbard Glacier. The ship, built in 2004, continues northward to Valdez and Seward, then shall head to Dutch Harbor for a brief six-hour stay.
Crossing the Arctic Circle, the itinerary will then lead to Nome, which is among the northernmost cities accessed by traditional cruise ships in Alaska. On its return journey to Seattle, the Westerdam will explore more unique locations like Kodiak, Homer, and Prince Rupert.
Additional stops include Juneau, Haines, and an overnight in Anchorage, along with cruising through Glacier Bay, Tracy Arm Fjord, the Inside Passage, Prince William Sound, College Fjord, Misty Fjords, and Little Diomede Island.

After completing this extensive Alaska program, the Westerdam will offer seven-night cruises from Seattle for the remainder of the summer. The regular itinerary also includes voyages to Canada, visiting Victoria, Ketchikan, Sitka, and Juneau, with additional scenic cruising in Tracy Arm Fjord.
Concluding its summer season, the ship, which accommodates 1,900 guests, has plans to embark on a 53-night journey to Japan in early September. This roundtrip cruise from Seattle features stops in multiple destinations across Asia, Alaska, Canada, and Hawaii, including Hakodate, Yokohama, Naha, Dutch Harbor, Victoria, and Honolulu.
For the winter season, the Westerdam will relocate to the South Pacific, offering cruises from Australia and New Zealand.
