Holland America Line is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a unique transatlantic crossing.
According to the company, an array of events and activities will be organized on board the Rotterdam VII during this commemorative sailing, which leaves from New York City today.
During the 13-day cruise to the Netherlands and England, guests will also be able to visit Portsmouth and Dover as well as spend eight full days at sea.
Holland America Line said the route duplicated the inaugural voyage of the original Rotterdam.
Later this month, passengers will disembark from the cruise ship in Rotterdam, where a special celebration will take place.
In honor of the company’s 150th birthday in the city of its foundation in 1873, Holland America said the Rotterdam will sail into the Dutch port on April 18, 2023.
Guests and the city of Rotterdam were able to celebrate the historic event on board the 99,000-ton vessel while it spent the night docked at the Cruise Port Rotterdam.
Holland America Line’s themed voyage will feature special guest speakers and enrichment programs, as well as dining menus and entertainment inspired by its history.
Rotterdam VII will join the Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam as Holland America Line’s third Pinnacle class ship in 2021.
As part of its enhanced amenities and features, the ship now offers new venues, including the Rolling Stone Rock Room, where guests can relive the rock history with live performances.
Additionally, the 2,660-passenger ship features over ten dining options, including the Grand Dutch Café and the Pinnacle Grill, Holland America Line’s signature steakhouse.
