Starlink’s SpaceX feedback: Holland America Line

SpaceX’s Starlink Internet has been used aboard Holland America Line’s Koningsdam sailing in Alaska for four weeks.

In April, Holland America Line installed the technology on the Koningsdam. It has since sailed a roundtrip 18-day cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii and its seven-day Inside Passage cruise from Vancouver to Alaska.

According to Gus Antorcha, president of Holland America Line, maintaining the connectivity they are used to at home is a crucial part of the cruise experience.

Holland America Line’s Koningsdam is the first ship to feature SpaceX Starlink technology, with more to follow.

While it’s early in our use, guests and Holland America Line employees have been very positive about it, according to Kathleen Erickson, Holland America Line’s vice president of technology. The guests state that emails and social media work well, while team members say internet calls home are more substantial. That’s a connection that means a lot.
