The MS Fridtjof Nansen has returned to service for HX (Hurtigruten Expeditions) following the cancellation of one tour due to a mechanical issue.
According to a statement released by the firm, the 2020-built ship will welcome guests back on November 28, 2024.
“Following successful repairs onboard and our expert team working hard to resolve the issue, we’re excited to confirm that your voyage will go ahead as planned,” HX stated in a message to booked customers.
After departing from Ushuaia, the Fridtjof Nansen now offers a ten-night expedition voyage that includes a four-day trip to Antarctica.
Along with the Roald Amundsen and the Fram, the 530-guest vessel will offer a variety of routes in the region during the 2024-25 season.
In mid-November, the deployment was disrupted by an isolated problem onboard the ship, resulting in the cancellation of one voyage for repairs.
“A confined technical issue happened on our vessel, the Fridtjof Nansen. “The ship continued its planned journey safely and arrived in Ushuaia today, Nov. 18, 2024,” HX stated at the time.
“We can confirm that all passengers and crew are safe and accounted for,” the business said, adding that the event had no impact on the vessel’s safety or integrity.
Technicians were quickly dispatched to rectify the issue, HX added, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of guests and workers remained key priorities.
“We sincerely apologize for the unexpected disturbance. “We understand the emotional impact this has, especially since many of these trips are once-in-a-lifetime experiences,” the business stated.
HX also stated that it would provide full support to affected guests, including organizing flights, transfers, and accommodations, as well as compensation offers.
The Fridtjof Nansen, a sister ship of the 2019 Roald Amundsen, was built at Kleven Verft in Norway to conduct voyages in remote and polar regions.
