MSC Cruises into Guinness World Books for holding up the longest-ever line of LEGO® ships-a mind-bending achievement. The record was set on the high seas and during the cruise line’s new flagship, MSC World America, sailing from Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire to Miami, Florida, ahead of her official launch on April 12, 2025.
A Marvelous Feat
Over the build of the remarkable 1,391 LEGO® ships, Captain Dino Sagani led over 1,000 crew members in carefully setting these ships in a gigantic line of 89 m, which ran all along the World Galleria on Deck 6. Each LEGO® ship took about 5 minutes to assemble, so when you add it all together, that is almost 116 hours for the entire team. The final set-up then took less than 2 hours after the last ship was put in place, and this was witnessed by a representative from Guinness World Records for the official recognition of the achievement.
With Innovation and Fun
MSC Cruises aimed for the creation of innovative entertainment experiences for their guests. Thus, they collaborated with LEGO® and Guinness World Records™. In their collaboration, the Guinness World Records™ live entertainment program, which began in 2023, provides guests with opportunities to attempt real-world records such as the fastest rope pull and quickest chair rotations. So far, guests and crew have set about 40 records.
The exciting programme is going on expansion, with 16 ships offering it by May and the whole fleet by the end of the year. As a special perk, all crew members who participated in the LEGO® ship record were awarded an official Guinness World Records™ certificate and were given a LEGO® ship as a souvenir.
Family Entertainment at Sea
MSC Cruises is a family-oriented company famous for its award-winning family programs and a well-nigh lifelong partnership with LEGO®. This partnership was further enhanced with the launches of MSC World America and the very first-ever LEGO® Parade at Sea, LEGO® Family Game Show, and a LEGO® Family Zone builder space. This basically defined the array of offerings within the realm of family entertainment.
The Art of Experience: A Vision
Yet again, Steve Leatham, VP Entertainment of MSC Cruises, expressed the company’s devotion to innovation. “Our entertainment team does everything possible to elevate the onboard experience, and partnerships with world-class brands like Guinness World Records™ and LEGO® help create magical moments for our guests.”
In his commentary, Matteo Mancini, family entertainment development director, MSC Cruises, declared: “MSC World America will present three playtimes of multi-age entertainment weekly, which includes the first-ever LEGO® Parade and Game Show at sea. With them will be immersive family entertainment that is just plain unforgettable for our guests across generations.”
Yet another achievement has placed MSC Cruises firmly in the forefront of innovative family entertainment, ensuring that their guests always enjoy unique record-setting experiences at sea.
