MSC Splendida to Stay in the Mediterranean for 2025

By Cruise Booking Team

The MSC Splendida is set to spend the upcoming summer sailing in Europe, marking a shift in its deployment plans. Currently concluding its winter season in South America, the vessel will soon begin a series of voyages across the Western Mediterranean.

As part of its new summer schedule, the ship will first embark on several short cruises to Spain, France, and Italy. Following these initial sailings, the Splendida will settle into a routine of seven-night itineraries covering the same countries.

These Mediterranean voyages were originally assigned to the MSC Magnifica. The itinerary includes stops in Civitavecchia, Livorno, Genoa, Marseille, Tarragona, and Valencia. Passengers can embark at any port, except for Livorno, adding flexibility to the travel experience. The cruise also features a full day at sea, allowing guests to enjoy the ship’s onboard amenities.

After completing its summer deployment, the MSC Splendida will remain in the Western Mediterranean for the 2025-26 winter season. Starting in early November, the vessel will introduce a new itinerary featuring La Goulette, Tunisia. This seven-night cruise also includes visits to Genoa, Naples, Palermo, Marseille, and Barcelona.

This marks a significant change from the ship’s initial plans. The MSC Splendida was originally scheduled to reposition to China in late 2024, joining the MSC Bellissima in the Asian market. It was expected to operate year-round cruises from ports such as Tianjin and Shenzhen.

MSC had initially announced Splendida’s move to Asia in mid-2024 but later revised its plans, opting instead for a winter deployment in South America. As a result, the ship is currently sailing a series of seven-night cruises to Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina. Departing from Santos, Itajaí, and Buenos Aires, the itinerary also includes visiting Punta del Este and three days at sea.

Despite this shift, MSC Cruises remains committed to maintaining a year-round presence in Asia. The MSC Bellissima will continue to offer cruises from multiple homeports across Taiwan, Japan, and China in 2025.
