The MSC Group is currently ordering ten cruise ships for its two brands. MSC Cruises‘ order book consists of four large, contemporary ships and six luxury mid-sized ships valued at $8.2 billion.
A total of 26,620 berths will be added to the company’s fleet through 2028 with the addition of the new ships. The average cost of the new ships is $820 million.
Next in line for delivery to MSC will be the MSC Euribia, which was built by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France.
When the MSC Meraviglia Class ship enters service next June, it will become the company’s second LNG-powered ship.
Additionally, three additional World Class ships are scheduled to be delivered by the contemporary brand through 2027.
In addition to the MSC World Europa, the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard is building two newbuildings totaling 205,700 tons.
MSC World America is scheduled to debut in the United States as the next ship of the series of 5,400-guest ships.
Meanwhile, Fincantieri is building mid-sized cruise ships for Explora Journeys.
With a capacity of 922 passengers, the 64,000-ton vessels were designed for luxury cruising.
It will be followed by five other ships through 2028, bringing the Explora series to a conclusion next July.
Due to new LNG-powered engines, the Explora III, the Explora IV, the Explora V, and the Explora VI will be slightly larger than the first two Explora vessels.
The last two vessels of its series are also expected to run on hydrogen, according to MSC Group.
