NCL: MILITARY FAMILIES ARE SURPRISED WITH FREE CRUISES AT NASCAR RACE COCA-COLA 600

A press release announced that Norwegian Cruise Line, in partnership with Coca-Cola, was honored to honor over 40 Gold Star Families during the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 28, 2023.

During Memorial Day weekend, the Coca-Cola 600 honored military service members and their families with a variety of activities, including a special brunch for Gold Star Families. Gold Star Families are the families of active-duty military personnel who have died in the line of duty.

David J. Herrera, former member of the Guard, was on hand to present a seven-day cruise to each family.

Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, said, “Military service members and their families are very important to us.” With our Military Appreciation Program, we can demonstrate this support and provide them with an opportunity to reconnect on board our ships and make long-lasting memories. Designed by veterans for veterans, this program was created by veterans at NCL. We are honored to recognize and provide some respite aboard our ships for Gold Star Families who have sacrificed the most for our country.”

It is extremely important to NCL to give back to service members. A special onboard experience, amenities, and cruise fare discounts will be offered to service members, veterans, and retired U.S. military and their spouses in November 2022 as part of the first-ever Military Appreciation Program. Among the sponsors of the event was former SEAL Matthew Lewis, who is Senior Vice President and Chief Security Officer for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. Veteran-developed program aims to set a new standard for enhancing engagement with U.S. military personnel in the cruise industry.
