On Monday morning, the Sapphire Princess was requested by the US Coast Guard to assist the disabled Wilderness Discoverer in the vicinity, which had been disabled by an engine room fire as it was en route to Glacier Bay, Alaska.
All 51 passengers and 16 crew members were transferred to the Sapphire Princess via a water shuttle.
Sapphire Princess reported that there were no injuries and that its crew was taking great care of passengers.
To assist these passengers in their forward travel, Princess Cruises continues to work with the US Coast Guard and local authorities.
Our crew at Sapphire Princess was led by Captain Todd McBain and we would like to thank our colleagues at the Coast Guard for their assistance,” Princess said in a statement.
On May 31, the Sapphire Princess departed from Vancouver on a 7-day Voyage of the Glaciers Alaska itinerary.
