Royal Caribbean is set to kick off the maiden season of the new Star of the Seas with the addition of a new showcase sailing. Originally planned to enter service 11 days later, the highly anticipated Icon-class ship will now welcome its first paying guests on August 20, 2025.
Royal Caribbean excitedly shared this update, stating, “Since we simply cannot wait to show off the next icon of vacations, we have now added one extra showcase sailing to kick off the celebrations for our inaugural season.”
This new showcase sailing will depart from Port Canaveral and take guests on a three-night cruise to the Bahamas. During the sailing, passengers will have the opportunity to visit Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s exclusive private island destination.
The added showcase sailing is part of the company’s efforts to generate excitement and give guests a preview of the new ship before its official maiden voyage.
This marks the second time Royal Caribbean has pushed forward the service launch of the Star of the Seas. Currently being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the ship has already had its debut date adjusted earlier in January. At that time, the company added two more showcase sailings to the vessel’s schedule.
These sailings are set to depart from Port Canaveral on August 23 and August 27, 2025. Like the previous showcase sailing, both these cruises will sail to the Bahamas and include a visit to Perfect Day at CocoCay, along with days spent at sea.
The Star of the Seas’s official maiden cruise is still scheduled for August 31, 2025, when the ship will set sail for its seven-night cruise to the Western Caribbean. The inaugural voyage will include a new stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, and the ship will also visit popular destinations in Mexico and Honduras, including Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatán.
In addition to the Western Caribbean sailings, the Star of the Seas will also offer itineraries to the Eastern Caribbean during its inaugural season. These cruises will visit exciting ports like St. Thomas, St. Maarten, San Juan, St. Kitts, and more, offering guests a variety of stunning destinations to explore.
With a fresh and innovative design, the Star of the Seas promises to be a game-changer for Royal Caribbean, giving cruisers a new and exciting way to experience the vacation of a lifetime.
