The Vision of the Seas is poised to be the first cruise ship to return to Baltimore following the Francis Scott Key Bridge incident. According to the Port of Baltimore, this Royal Caribbean International vessel will set sail from the Cruise Maryland Terminal on May 25, 2024.
Currently in drydock on Grand Bahama Island, the Vision of the Seas, built in 1996, will resume service on this date. Upon its return, the ship will embark on a five-night cruise to Bermuda, featuring an overnight stay at King’s Wharf.
With Baltimore Harbor closed since late March, the Vision of the Seas has been temporarily operating from Norfolk, Virginia. The ship will continue its year-round service on the East Coast, offering cruises ranging from five to nine nights to destinations including Bermuda and the Bahamas. These itineraries will feature stops in Nassau and Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at Cococay.
Starting in November, the Vision of the Seas will also offer itineraries to the Caribbean and Florida, with visits to Port Canaveral, St. Maarten, Dominica, St. Croix, St. Lucia, and other destinations.
Additionally, the Carnival Pride is expected to return to Baltimore this month. According to a statement sent to guests, Carnival Cruise Line plans to have the ship back in Maryland by May 26, 2024. Although its upcoming cruise is set to depart from Norfolk, the Pride is anticipated to return to Baltimore for disembarkation and to start its next journey.
Like the Vision of the Seas, the Carnival Pride was based year-round in Baltimore before the Francis Scott Key Bridge incident. The bridge collapsed in late March after being struck by a cargo ship, blocking the main maritime channel to the Port of Baltimore.
