According to a press release, Seabourn announced a selection of new pre-, mid-, and post-cruise “Seabourn Journeys” that will be available to guests on the 2024 Grand Africa Voyage. These journeys offer opportunities for guests to engage in in-depth exploration at various stages of their cruise. For those interested in wildlife, several mid-cruise safari options are available, providing opportunities to stay in resorts and national parks in Botswana, Namibia, and other locations to potentially see Africa’s “Big Five.”

Additionally, travelers will have the chance to visit sites such as the Kariega Game Reserve (Settlers Drift), Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, and Onguma The Fort. For guests interested in exclusive wine experiences, there are opportunities for gourmet dining and wine tastings at La Residence Wine Estate in Franschhoek during four-day pre- and post-cruise stays.

Natalya Leahy, president of Seabourn, was quoted saying that Seabourn Journeys enable guests to deepen their experiences of the destinations by extending their travel beyond the first and final ports of calls. The new Seabourn Journeys for the Grand Africa Voyage include experiences like the La Residence Wine Experience, which is a four-day pre- or post-cruise journey in Cape Town, South Africa, from January 25-28, 2024, or January 28-31, 2024. Guests sailing on shorter segments that embark or debark in Cape Town on January 28 can enjoy a pre-cruise or post-cruise experience in South Africa’s Cape Winelands, including a meal at La Residence in the Franschhoek Valley and a tour of wine estates in Paarl and Boschendal with tastings.

Another option is the Grootbos Private Nature Reserve journey, a four-day post-cruise adventure from January 28-31, 2024, where guests can engage in activities like exploring the Milkwood Forest, botanical hikes, 4×4 flower safaris, and visits to Klipgat Cave and Walker Bay Nature Reserve.

The Ultimate Botswana Experience is a seven-day mid-cruise journey starting from Durban, South Africa, on January 22-28, 2024. After disembarking in Durban, guests fly to Johannesburg to stay at the Sanctuary Mandela Boutique Hotel, Nelson Mandela’s former residence. Following this, they travel to Botswana’s Sanctuary Baines’ Camp and later transfer to the Chief’s Camp in the Moremi Game Reserve, where they can view wildlife including the “Big Five” and over 500 bird species.

Departing from Barcelona on November 30, 2024, the Seabourn Sojourn is set to embark on a 90-day voyage that will visit 42 destinations and cities across 20 countries.
