Seabourn Venture recently embarked on its first Northwest Passage voyage, a first for Seabourn and Carnival.
The on-way expedition cruise departs from Kangerlussuaq, in Greenland, and arrives in Nome, in Alaska, on September 17.
Aside from the Northwest passage transit, the itinerary also includes visits to Karrat Fjord and Sisimiut in Greenland, as well as Pond Inlet, Dundas Harbour, and Croker Bay in the Canadian Arctic.
Between September 3 and September 12, the vessel will complete its full transit of the North American continent.
Natalya Leahy, president of Seabourn, called it a “historic day” for both companies.
Additionally, she emphasized Roald Amundsen, the first person to navigate the Northwest Passage in 1903 – 1906.
A 120-year-old expedition from Seabourn Venture through the Northwest Passage will take guests on an amazing journey through history. I would like to thank everyone who has made this possible,” she said.
Seabourn Venture offers a series of repositioning voyages to South America as it prepares to return to Antarctica for a second consecutive season.
There are a number of departures from Ushuaia, Argentina, for expeditions to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, and the Falkland Islands.
Seabourn Venture sails in remote and polar areas with PC6 Polar Class standards.
The 23,000-ton vessel offers luxurious amenities as well as a range of complimentary expedition activities led by an expert 26-member team of scientists, scholars, naturalists, and others.
