Silversea Cruises‘ Silver Moon was the first cruise ship to dock in Tarragona on Thursday, April 6, according to a press release.
Tarragona was the ship’s first ever port of call, docking at Balears Wharf.
Barcelona was the destination of the Silver Moon on its way from Palma de Mallorca.
An official welcome ceremony was conducted by Port Operations Director, Niria Obiols, who awarded the captain a commemorative plaque in Tarragona.
Port officials expect to welcome 55 cruise ships and 98,000 passengers during the cruise season. April 6 marked the beginning of the season, which will last until December 2023.
Port officials are currently working to electrify Balears Wharf and build a sustainable new terminal.
