Upon arrival in Toronto for its first port of call in the Great Lakes region, Viking Polaris is celebrating its second season in the region with double capacity.
Earlier this year, the Viking Octantis completed its Great Lakes voyage, returning to the region in April 2023 along with its identical sister ship, the Viking Polaris.
Itineraries on the two ships will operate between Toronto and Duluth between September 2023, covering all five Great Lakes.
It is a great pleasure to welcome both of our expedition ships to the Great Lakes. There are historic canals that are engineering marvels, vibrant cities with vibrant art and culture, as well as unimaginable wilderness in this region of North America, “said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking. The Great Lakes region welcomed us warmly during our first full season in 2022, and we look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to the region this season and in years to come.”
To provide insights that will guide Viking’s management decisions, Viking partnered with the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which conducts environmental research in the Great Lakes and coastal regions.
