MS Vesteralen

MS Västerolen was named after the first Hurtigruten ship to sail along Norway's rugged coast in 1893. She is one of our small boat girlfriends and her onboard creates an intimate atmosphere.

MS Vesterålen will be renovated at the end of 2019. All public areas will be upgraded, including the lounge and 'Fyret' bar. This refurbishment will ensure that MS Västerollen continues to offer passengers an authentic historical experience.

Authentic heritage

MS Västerolen offers passengers an authentic cultural experience. His exciting program allows you to learn more about ship maritime operations, logistics and hotel operations. He gets a chance to get up close to Operation Hurtigruten and learn more about the operations off the Norwegian coast. The program includes:

• Every other day we publish various topics related to Hurtigruten activities. Evening tour guide-led lectures include interviews with various crew members who share insights into their work and life on board.
• Short films and presentations during the evening talk program covering the engine room, bridge, galley, cargo deck and more.
• Hands-on courses on related topics such as 'Learning to read and use a nautical chart' or 'Making a traditional Norwegian dinner fourikar'. Due to limited capacity, these courses are available for a fee and can be booked onboard.
• Operational and historical 'sights'/great facts are presented on deck along the route.
• Exhibits on Hurtigruten history, ship design and construction, route planning, navigation facts and operational developments.
• Logbook for the entire trip. You can buy it at the end of your trip.

MS Vesterålen has bright and casual public areas and lounges. The extensive art collection on board adds a touch of sophistication. The ship's passenger capacity is limited, which makes traveling on MS Västerolen very special.
